About The Position

The Global Health and Safety Lead (including duties of Regional Health and Safety Manager) provides subject matter expertise, strategy, and support to reduce injuries and risk, strengthen safety advocacy and assure environmental, health and safety compliance across the global program. They will lead the Health and Safety Program globally in addition to the regional management. Experience in developing and managing an occupational safety program is required. Experience managing a team of safety professionals to deliver EHS services or support the EHS function is expected. Outstanding communication and writing skills are required; experience operating within a global framework as well as project management is extremely helpful. The role is highly collaborative in nature offering support to multiple work groups.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma, GED, OR ability to complete the GED program within 6 months.
  • All candidates must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.

  • Must have the legal right to work in USA
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field highly desired, or an associate degree and job-related work experience.
  • Experience in developing & implementing site level EHS Plans aligned with broader corporate level guidance.
  • Proven senior level leadership, coaching, business acumen and technical/functional EHS expertise coupled with clear and concise communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing change (building culture) at multiple levels, as well as developing and implementing dynamic and fluid programs to sustain positive culture.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and operational leaders through consensus and engagement, on EHS matters, supporting business objectives.
  • Innovative mindset, offering creative solutions to problems with the ability to anticipate business issues and align EHS operational priorities.
  • Results oriented with a continual improvement mindset and experience in change management ideally with some form of change management education (Lean Kaizen, etc.).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Legally authorized to enter (NON) USA based locations, with approx. 30% travel domestic and international.
  • 5 or more years’ experience managing direct reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Skype, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, as well as SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential.
  • Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is preferred.
  • ISO 45001 management standard experience is a plus.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Excellent organizational skills and extremely high attention to detail.
  • Effective time management to deliver projects on-time and that meet expectations.
  • Ability to receive direct or indirect instruction in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form, and act upon such instruction to accomplish a given task or project. In the event of unclear instruction, must have the ability to ask for clarification without prompting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Competent writer; exhibits knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented workplace where judgment and professionalism were necessities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter expertise on the design and implementation of all policies and procedures regarding safety, health and environmental measures and precautions for the assigned account.
  • Defines effective implementation and utilization of risk assessment, risk prediction, risk prevention processes to identify and mitigate hazards; inspects/tours facilities; defines KPI's, monitors accidents/near hits, and prepares required reports of organizational safety performance.
  • Supports leadership globally in maintaining compliance with internal and external EHS policies/requirements, processes and procedures; manages change and growth.
  • Partners with leadership to develop safety, health and environment KPI's to drive performance improvement.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety and health rules and regulations including international, federal, state, and local.
  • Maintain and present the company’s safety metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and fiscal yearly basis.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conducting of incident investigations, root cause analysis and communication of lessons learned.
  • Develop accident investigation programs, accident trends, and programs for improving performance.
  • Position is hands-on and actively contributes to the program by participating in and/or leading activities of the various sites and operations.
  • Fosters a culture of safety, hygiene, health and environment through definition of programs, systems and processes, policies and procedures that are compliant with applicable law and guidelines, and reflective of industry best practices – provides professional direction and/or guidance on health, hygiene and safety issues; consults on design and use of equipment, facilities, fire prevention, safety programs.
  • Educate, train, and provide support to operations in the development and execution of consistent safety and environmental management programs.
  • Collaborate with regional staff, corporate counsel, and stakeholders to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations.
  • Process documents and reports periodically to program management teams to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Manage the performance of a team of Environmental, Safety and Health professionals, to include assisting with the creation of job descriptions, hiring, performance reviews, and other management responsibilities in accordance with human resource policies.
  • Assist with the creation and management of the master statement of work for safety related activities and contracts.
  • Manage client relationships and expectations through timely communication and interaction; measurement of client KPI’s and SLAs as outlined in the Master Statement of Work.
  • Respond to formal and informal employee safety concerns, which include ergonomic assessments. Along with the conducting, coordinating and/or overseeing workplace assessments and follows up, as necessary.
  • Assist in the maintenance of employee environmental, health and safety communications and training programs.
  • Conduct annual reviews and audit related documents in partnership with operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and support framework for employee led safety committees across the team.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in health and safety.
  • Use client meeting technology, schedules and facilitates a variety of meetings and webinars to disseminate gathered information.
  • Maintain a customer service approach to problem solving and works with client and program management to find solutions to health and safety concerns.
  • At the direction of the Global Account Director, performs other duties as assigned to ensure the overall success of the LinkedIn EHS program.
