As the Global Head of Technology Excellence and Resiliency, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and uninterrupted, sub-second operation of all S&P 500 and global index calculation and dissemination systems. This role is foundational to the firm's credibility and performance, demanding an executive-level technologist who can meld the architectural rigor of a Principal Engineer with operational scale and risk focus. You will lead the newly unified Technology Excellence and Resiliency function, which encompasses Cyber and Security Engineering, Quality Engineering (QE), and System Reliability Engineering (SRE) . Your core mandate is to eliminate single points of failure, institutionalize security-by-design, and elevate the performance and reliability of our mission-critical, low-latency index infrastructure.

  • Define the strategic roadmap and organizational structure for technology excellence, cyber security, quality assurance, and system resiliency, ensuring alignment with the CTO's vision and the firm's business objectives
  • Lead the successful consolidation and harmonization of Cyber, QE, and SRE teams, creating a single, cohesive function. Establish unified operational metrics (e.g., DORA metrics, SLIs/SLOs) to measure and drive continuous improvement across all domains.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a world-class team of engineers and architects, fostering a culture of technical rigor, blameless post-mortems, and proactive risk mitigation
  • Serve as the top-tier technical escalation point, driving deep architectural reviews.
  • Be ultimately accountable for the operational stability and near-zero latency performance of all index calculation engines and dissemination platforms, directly mirroring the standards of market technology.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced SRE practices, including rigorous Error Budget management, disaster recovery architecture, and end-to-end observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) to ensure resilience against all modes of failure.
  • Own the major incident response process. Lead post-incident reviews to ensure systemic, preventative engineering improvements are prioritized and implemented globally, drastically reducing Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
  • Institutionalize a security-first mindset across all engineering teams. Oversee the development and implementation of security controls, threat modeling, and automated compliance into the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), aligning with the high-bar security posture of institutions like Goldman Sachs
  • Direct the security engineering function in architecting and implementing advanced protective, detection, and response measures to secure critical financial data, intellectual property, and proprietary index methodologies.
  • Ensure all technology systems adhere to stringent internal, regulatory, and financial industry governance standards related to cyber risk and operational continuity.
  • Champion a "shift-left" quality transformation , moving beyond traditional QA to implement automated, continuous, and performance testing across the entire CI/CD pipeline, reducing defects in production.
  • Define and enforce high-bar engineering standards, architectural patterns, and developer tooling (e.g., Infrastructure-as-Code, immutable infrastructure) to maximize productivity, maintainability, and code quality.
  • Oversee the responsible and governed use of AI and Machine Learning (ML) for practical functions such as anomaly detection in system metrics, predictive maintenance, and enhancing system diagnostics and log correlation.
  • 15+ years in hands-on, high-volume, low-latency software or systems engineering, with 7+ years in senior executive leadership or Principal/Distinguished Engineer roles.
  • Deep experience in a firm where technology is the core product, specifically with real-time data, low-latency systems, and critical market infrastructure.
  • Expert-level command of distributed systems, cloud architecture (AWS/GCP), data pipelines, and securing high-volume APIs. Ability to design and enforce highly available architectures to meet RPO/RTO targets.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and integrate SRE, Cyber, and QE functions. Strong understanding of risk frameworks and engineering metrics (SLOs, MTTD, MTTR).
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influencing skills. Demonstrated success in managing large, global engineering teams and translating complex technical risks into clear business impacts for the CTO and CEO.
  • Strong familiarity with financial regulatory expectations concerning Operational Resilience, Business Continuity (BCP), and Disaster Recovery (DR), having navigated regulatory reviews or internal/external audits at a major financial institution.
