For more information, visit www.spglobal.com/mobility . Global Head of Compensation Location: Reston, VA (Virtual, Hybrid) Team Description It is an exciting time in the People team at the Company. With a mantra of “People First”, the People team is evolving the People model to push past the traditional Ulrich model in order to support the fast pace changes in the business and to support all people. This role presents the unique opportunity for the incumbent to lead the Global Compensation team for Mobility Global. Position Description The Company is seeking a Global Head of Compensation to collaborate with senior leadership, the business units, the HR team, and other functions such as finance and legal, in the development, design, and execution of the Company’s compensation programs. They will have a commercially focused mindset and the ability to translate that capability to People solutions through the Company’s compensation programs. This leader will draw from big picture thinking to deliver compelling, innovative and creative programs that balance business needs and employee experience. They will be a key member of the People Leadership Team, reporting to the Global Head of Total Rewards. This role will have full responsibility for world-wide compensation programs in alignment with the Company’s Total Rewards Philosophy, and will lead the overall compensation strategy in close partnership with internal stakeholders for the establishment of a comprehensive program strategy in support of the attraction, retention, and engagement of employees. This role is ideal for a hands-on incumbent who can deal effectively with strategic issues while driving tactical operational solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years direct experience in compensation management for large corporations having world-wide operations, preferably in a publicly traded company.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources/Compensation strategic leadership experience across multiple countries globally.
  • Successful business partnership at a divisional/executive level, with proven success in linking people and compensation strategies to the business.
  • Experience in a growing global business and positive reputation for working effectively across levels of an organization.
  • Ability to navigate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures & company restructurings.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and work under pressure on a number of projects at the same time and to coach/lead others to work in this type of environment.
  • Proven track record for managing and developing a high-performing team that fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service.
  • Proven track record for successfully being a team member and/or lead on small and large scale programs.
  • Demonstrated ability presenting to steering committees, C-Suite and Board.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic planning, design, implementation, maintenance, communication, and administration of compensation programs, including but not limited to broad-based compensation, compensation structures, job architecture, company incentive plans (e.g., group and sales incentive), & reward/recognition programs.
  • Develop the processes and lead all compensation administrative programs world-wide, such as merit planning, incentive design and/or calculation, recognition, and job movement such as promotions and job transfers; partner with the HR Shared Services team on such administrative and data matters.
  • Assist the Global Head of Executive Compensation and Benefits is supporting executive compensation programs such as Company stock plan administration.
  • Manage vendors providing market data and compensation program administration as applicable.
  • Adept at identifying and analyzing data and behavioral patterns to help inform the design, communication, education and administration of compensation programs.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and exceptional people skills in helping solve complex system-wide challenges and in building teams of people who work effectively with you, each other, across HR, and across other Company functions to provide strategic and operational support to senior management.
  • Actively partner on all complex business matters such as IPO, M&A, divestiture, and restructuring activities, as well as contribute to other corporate initiatives.
  • Benchmark activities across all areas of compensation to elevate our understanding of our competitiveness and evolve it over time to meet the changing landscape of total rewards.
  • Lead an effective, client-focused compensation team that instills company-wide trust and value for the People function, and delivers with operational excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and employees to convey the value and opportunity of the Company’s compensation program.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and tax matters in all countries where our Company has employees, relying upon internal and external advisors as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date on legislative and regulatory issues related to compensation programs and maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory requirements, such as for SOX compliance.
  • Establish the budget for the compensation programs and monitor administrative costs and pricing of such programs, recommending cost-containment strategies as applicable.
