Paula’s Choice is a growing skin care company with logistics and distribution infrastructure on three continents. Our logistics activities involve components to foreign and domestic contract manufacturer warehouses and transporting finished goods to domestic and overseas distribution centers. The Manager of Global Freight will guide a small team to ensure that freight transport is planned, moved, and paid according to established procedures and within SLAs, serve as the subject matter expert for global transportation, and will be primarily responsible for executing global freight transport. The Global Freight Manager will support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize global distribution, improve service and responsiveness, and decrease unit costs. As a Global Freight Manger, a typical day might include a mix of the following: Manage a team of export associates. Oversee the daily coordination with Buyers, Quality Control, Contract Manufacturers, Warehouse teams, Freight Forwarders / Carriers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. Supervise US Customs compliance, and international logistics. Make sure that all Free Trade data and HTS codes are updated. Prepare and maintain domestic and export customs documentation. Audit pack lists and receipts to ensure inventory values and quantities are accurate. Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of booked shipments in internal systems and provide inbound/ outbound visibility for warehouse operations, wholesale dept, contract manufacturer’s, overseas Paula’s Choice subsidiaries (PCEU, PCAU, Asia) and supply chain teams. Review and approve freight purchase orders, audit carrier invoices, resolve any disputed rates with carriers, and approve invoices for weekly payments. Investigate & diagnose service failures, take corrective action, submit claims for damages and obtain credit memos for overbilling. Identify, select, onboard and manage new freight forwarders and logistics companies for all Paula’s Choice entities. Prepare on-demand reports for upper management and other depts (budget forecasts, monthly accruals, In-transit reporting, cost analysis, lead-times and lane costs, etc.) Review carrier performance, logistics cost and drive process improvements with key partners (freight forwarders/ truckers) by identifying opportunities for lowering cost and improving lead times. Provide and oversee training, standard operation guides to internal departments and contract manufacturers. Participate in the new ERP implementation process and provide subject matter expertise. The Global Freight Manager will also work closely with Unilever Prestige team to deliver cost savings and align with the Prestige global freight strategy.
