About The Position

The Global Finance Internship Program at Assurant is a 10-week immersive experience designed to provide hands -on exposure within Accounting, Business Finance, Tax , Investments, Internal Audit & Analytics , Vendor Management o r Actuarial . This program offers students meaningful, real-world experience while building foundational technical and business skills in a Fortune 500 organization . Interns will contribute to meaningful business initiatives , gain insight into enterprise financial operations, and develop professional capabilities through structured learning and mentorship . This program concludes with a capstone presentation delivered to leadership . Interns will be placed into one of several functional teams based on interests, coursework, and business need . High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time opportunities within Assurant’s Finance organization.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Actuarial Science/Mathematics, or related field
  • Expected graduation between Dec ember 2026 – June 2028
  • Basic Excel skills
  • W illingness to develop advanced Excel & Power BI skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with curiosity and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to organize and interpret structured data
  • Collaborati ve, team-oriented approach
  • Interest in accounting, finance, risk, investments, or analytics

Nice To Haves

  • Excel: pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning
  • Power BI: dashboards, KPIs (training provided)
  • SQL and/or other data tools (preferred for some tracks )
  • Understanding of performance metrics and financial statements
  • Automation/AI exposure
  • PowerPoint and executive -level presentation skills
  • Progress towards professional designations ( CPA, CFA, ACAS , etc. )

Responsibilities

  • Support financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and reconciliation activities
  • Participate in month‑end financial close tasks and audit preparation
  • Analyze structured data and develop insights to support business decisions
  • Assist in building dashboards, financial models, and KPI reports
  • Conduct research, synthesize findings, and communicate recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on ongoing projects and strategic initiatives
  • Present project outcomes and learnings during final capstone
  • Gain exposure to corporate and international accounting operations, financial reporting (including SEC and statutory), controllership activities, audit support, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
  • Support financial planning, forecasting, expense management, client profitability analysis, and financial modeling across domestic and international business units.
  • Assist in global vendor risk oversight, regulatory research, and emerging risk analysis to support enterprise compliance and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to risk-based audit activities and leverage data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI) to enhance audit insights and financial transparency.
  • Support state and local tax compliance, research, and planning initiatives within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Assist with portfolio analytics, income forecasting, risk assessment, and strategic asset allocation activities within the enterprise investment function.
  • Support pricing, ratemaking, reserving, forecasting, and financial reporting activities that inform risk and profitability management.
