Requirements

  • BS in Engineering preferred, but not required in lieu of experience.
  • 5+ years pattern building experience preferred.
  • 5+ years experience with gating and risering techniques (primarily ductile iron; vertical and horizontal molding).
  • Knowledge of foundry processes (melt, green sand and no-bake molding, coremaking etc).
  • Proficient with CAD (SolidWorks), Word, Excel.
  • Ability to be flexible with shifts, hours, and assignments.
  • Some travel required.
  • Must possess good communication skills and be capable of working effectively with others, either remotely or in a group setting.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.

Nice To Haves

  • ProCast solidification experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and promote all safety guidelines set forth by the company/facility. Conduct all activities with safety as a primary focus. Report any/all unsafe conditions or actions.
  • Design and construct new foundry tooling from blueprints and/or CAD models provided. Tooling designs must conform to process parameters and customer requirements, and produce the highest quality castings with minimal labor investment through final product.
  • Responsible for the routine maintenance and changes to existing foundry tooling. Maintain tooling to optimize production efficiency, ensure dimensional accuracy and minimize scrap and rework; and coordinate necessary tooling modifications as required.
  • Generate casting and pattern quotations for potential new projects. Using process knowledge, provide information regarding work centers and cycle times to calculate casting pricing, and provide information to pattern vendors to obtain competitive tooling prices.
  • Coordinate movement of patterns between facilities to meet global production requirements & initiatives.
  • Work with global teams on new product launches, engineering changes and cost saving projects.
  • Maintain active tooling list with details regarding production status, maintenance history, age, condition, etc.
  • Participate in, utilize and help with the training of Lean tools, VPDS, Facilities Excellence Maps, and quality improvement process in the performance of his/her job.
  • Actively pursue process improvement/cost reduction opportunities by utilizing Six Sigma and other Quality/Lean tools.
  • Training of salaried and hourly employees as needed.
