About The Position

The Global Environmental and Security Intern will support the company’s global environmental and security programs across international operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in global environmental compliance, risk management, and sustainability initiatives, while providing exposure to cross-functional collaboration and corporate governance. The role is designed for students eager to build a career in environmental management, corporate security, or risk and compliance. The position is a key member of the Operational Excellence staff, reporting to the Global Environmental Manager. This role works collaboratively with the Environmental and Security representative based in locations across the globe to provide uniform and consistent direction in support of the Global Optimization Locally Driven (GOLD) business model and organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Pursing a bachelor’s degree preferred in Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, corporate responsibility, and global security
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in planning, prioritizing tasks, assessing risk, and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement global Environmental and Security standards tailored to business needs through stakeholder engagement and ensuring conformance to standards and compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Support with company’s environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance auditing program by reviewing open corrective actions and supporting PHINIA sites to drive closure of these findings.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with key stakeholders to gather information on environmental and security initiatives.
  • Identify environmental and security strengths throughout the organization and document these in the PHINIA Knowledge Library.
  • Research best practices in sustainable manufacturing, including recycling, water conservation, and carbon reduction strategies as well as industry benchmarks for physical security programs.
