About The Position

As a Global Electrical Discipline Lead, you will support the electrical engineering field within the Global Engineering team for capital projects and sites within PPG with primary focus on the Industrial Segment. Electrical Engineering skillsets required include: Train and evaluate for electrical hazardous area classifications across PPG global footprint (USA, Mexico, Europe, Asia) and resulting electrical system designs. Electrical equipment specifications (draft and review) including certifications (CE/ATEX vs NRTL) and factory testing requirements. Support incident investigations around electrical systems incidents and equipment failures to identify causes and solutions. Site power system capacity, reliability, and safety assessments. Includes power system load studies, arc flash studies, relay coordination, end of life assessments, and harmonic studies. Capital project electrical and utility development support for electrical systems. Electrical discipline reviews for project peer reviews during project development. Factory testing, field testing, commissioning and startup requirement definitions and support. Estimate support within the electrical system scope. Train and evaluation for electrical safe work practices Mentor site teams, global team members, and engineering contractors in electrical best practices

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 20+ years' experience supporting electrical engineering needs at sites and capital projects.
  • Understand global electrical related codes and standards ( NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, IEC, FM global, UL, NETA, ANSI and NEMA)
  • Travel 25 to 50% of time, some international travel required.
  • Experience collaborating with international suppliers and engineers required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within chemical manufacturing or capital project management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be the electrical subject area standards and processes owner for design and requirements.
  • Support electrical scope development, cost estimating, specifications, construction packages, quality assurance, and technical support for startup and commissioning for capital projects.
  • Be the electrical engineering Subject Matter Expert for the engineering and site teams including electrical studies and specification of electrical equipment.
  • Lead engineering efforts for electrical man hour estimates and material takes offs.
  • Promote safe, balanced, solutions to opportunities within the design work process to further increase the efficiency and predictability of capital projects.
  • Support certifications and code compliance for electrical equipment purchases.
  • Audit manufacturing sites for electrical compliance, accurate documentation, maintenance programs and provide accurate recommendations.
  • Evaluate latest technology for electrical equipment.
