The Global EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining innovative EHS programs and systems that foster a robust safety culture, proactive analytics, risk mitigation and ensuring compliance across all AAG facilities worldwide. This role requires strategic leadership, regulatory expertise, and a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.

  • Develops, in conjunction with plant operations personnel, safety risk assessments to proactively address potential serious injury and fatalities (SIFs). Creates short-term and long-term safety improvement plans and actions that can be executed by operations.
  • Leads the implementation of global safety projects, respective reporting tools, and ensures key stakeholders remain updated. Establishes and tracks key safety performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assists in the development and communication of the overall EHS strategy and roadmap with periodic status updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment across all global facilities. Serves as a primary liaison for EHS matters with external regulatory agencies, industry groups, and internal teams.
  • Defines and implements initiatives that foster a growing safety culture and enhances employee engagement across facilities.
  • Develops, implements and manages Standardized Safety Management Systems across all facilities in multiple countries. Drives change to continually evolve the Safety System to ensure effectiveness and suitability to evolving company needs.
  • Manages, educates and facilitates cross functional teams at multiple facilities to complete standardized focused safety initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers safety training initiatives to enhance awareness, compliance, and employee engagement. Provide targeted instruction to leadership and operations personnel on risk assessment, hazard recognition and prevention, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local safety regulations, implementing policies and procedures as needed. Reviews and updates health & safety policies, procedures, and practices annually or as required by regulatory changes.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all health & safety policies, procedures and practices are reviewed on an annual basis, or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation and are rolled out in a timely manner.
  • Define leading and lagging key performance indicators to be used as part of the company's Goals & Objectives (G&O's). Maintains and analyzes data collected on all safety and environmental matters to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Conducts frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits at the plants, assisting operations with immediate root cause corrective actions when necessary, including training of same.
  • Oversees implementation of emergency preparedness plans and incident response protocols and manages within the Preparis system. Leads emergency response training and facilitation of knowledge-sharing forums to strengthen readiness and capabilities.
  • Supports HR Managers with a strategy to address specific workers' compensation claims with the Third-Party Administrator and develops plans to reduce/eliminate costs.
  • Reviews incident investigations and ensures that injury management and root cause analysis is completed and shared across all locations. Communicates Lessons Learned and Best Management Practices through established forums.
  • Updates monthly safety information for the Amsted Operations report.
  • Functions efficiently within a team environment and works closely with Operations Management and the OPEX team to integrate EHS aspects into daily work practices.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the ISO 14001 EMS and the integration of all Safety Aspects into each Plant's specific EHS Management System.
  • Acts as a liaison for regulatory agency inquiries; responds to inspections and inquiries, ensuring coordination with the parent company where appropriate.
  • Conduct research in response to specific EHS improvement initiatives and make recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prefer a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or maintain the necessary qualifications to immediately earn the CIH.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of OSHA and other global regulatory requirements.
  • Must have strong influence/persuasion and critical thinking skills.
  • Willingness to take a hands-on approach to leading the function.
  • Must be proficient in O365.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.
