About The Position

The GDO (Global Development Officer) of Donor Development is responsible for overseeing their portfolio, which includes major/wealth donors, foundations, and trust fund donors. The GDO is charged with cultivating new donor relationships and growing existing donor engagement to secure financial gifts from donors, corporations, and foundations. Requirements

  • Demonstrates passion for Biblical stewardship and raising funds for the primary purpose of sharing God’s Word
  • Possesses the necessary professional skills and experience to promote the ministry to various audiences such as membership, Christian public, businesses, and Foundations
  • Possesses the necessary highly developed interpersonal and relational skills to serve as part of a variety of teams, motivating each other towards common goals and mission, to interact and relate to the membership, and to foster relationships with outside associations and various contacts
  • Possesses the necessary written and verbal communication skills to dynamically articulate the vision of the organization as well as motivate and inspire others to participate
  • Possesses the necessary skills to maintain accountabilities, process information, make decisions, organize workload, resolve conflicts, delegate responsibilities, and solve problems
  • Comfortable and willing to travel to fulfill job responsibilities and support the organization's mission
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent completed post-secondary education in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales or fundraising role with a proven track record of success
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with a minimum level of supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the multi-culture market preferred
  • Knowledge of Christian ministry or non-profit sector
  • Successful track record as a professional fundraiser or as a relational salesperson, with proven ability to influence and build relationships
  • Personable, friendly, and donor-centric
  • Ability to make the ask and solicit funds
  • Experience writing proposals is an asset
  • Experience of developing and implementation of prospecting plans
  • Familiarity with moves management and fundraising and donor relations management systems such as Blackbaud and Raiser’s Edge
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Donor Portfolio Management
  • Conduct research, build donor strategies to manage a donor portfolio of major/wealth donors, corporations, and trust fund donors
  • Strengthen relationships with assigned donors by building personalized cultivation plans and deliver meaningful donor experiences.
  • Execute quarterly touchpoints with new and existing donors through phone calls, emails and face to face interactions.
  • Initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and alter strategic advancement plans through moves management.
  • Ensure Raisers Edge (CRM) data records are current and up-to-date
  • Able to articulate the organizational story so that individuals desire to align with the vision/mission/goals of the organization
  • Host major/wealth donor activities that may include events, seminars, webinars and surveys.
  • Donor Acquisition
  • Build and maintain an active donor funnel, by conducting multi-channel outreach.
  • Identify and qualify new donors by organizing and attending events and potential supporters.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to assess donor motivations
  • Collaborate with board members, executives, and colleagues to uncover high‑net‑worth individuals
  • Donor Retention
  • Conduct updates, personal check-ions and appreciation calls to build relationships with donors and affiliation with the organization.
  • Use Raisers Edge engagement metrics to identify ‘at risk’, ‘lapsing’, and ‘lapsed’ donors
  • Foundations
  • Use research tools to identify Foundation opportunities
  • Initiate contact and follow-through with Foundation Board Members to build relationship and affiliation
  • With assistance from staff, build and deliver LOI and proposals
