About The Position

The Global Customs Classifications Senior Specialist for the North America Region is responsible for conducting in-depth legal and factual analysis to accurately classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and providing Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) to ensure timely and compliant customs clearance. This role involves maintaining and updating customs classification records in accordance with global customs regulations, demonstrating the company's commitment to reasonable care and due diligence in ERP systems like SAP and CIM. The specialist will monitor and interpret changes in global trade regulations that may impact product classification and ensure timely updates to internal systems and documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in classification and compliance.
  • Familiarity with customs brokerage systems, trade compliance software, and ERP systems.
  • Technical background or understanding of product engineering is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal and factual analysis to accurately classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Provide Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) ensuring timely and compliant customs clearance.
  • Maintain and update customs classification records in accordance with global customs regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in global trade regulations that may impact product classification.
  • Identify and fulfill regulatory requirements from government agencies for both imports and exports.
  • Respond to inquiries from customs brokers and resolve issues affecting import shipments.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for internal stakeholders and business partners on customs classification and compliance best practices.
  • Create and maintain user-friendly reference materials and guides to support ongoing compliance.
  • Apply acceptable customs valuation methodologies to support accurate duty assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business objectives with trade compliance requirements.
  • Manage a dynamic workload with shifting priorities.
  • Prepare and present Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for management reviews.
  • Provide strategic support for major regional projects, including initiatives in NAM.
  • Collaborate with internal teams during customs audits to ensure preparedness and compliance.
