About The Position

Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry. Commodity management is a strategic approach to procurement that aims to optimize the value and performance of a group of related products or services. As a commodity manager, you are responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering savings and benefits for our organization. This role will identify strategic suppliers in the power generation equipment space and lead cross-functional evaluations to determine the best overall supplier product fit for the Mitsubishi Power Turbine solution. Main commodity focus for this role is castings and forgings including blades and vanes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred) and five years of supply chain experience, or ten years of supply chain experience with specialty in commodities management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, presentations, and correspondence
  • Strong mathematical ability, including algebra, geometry, and applied calculations
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills to address complex situations with limited standardization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems
  • Management skills to communicate tasks, goals, and projects effectively and delegate when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Support and implement 5 year ecosystem supplier strategy, capacity, capability aligned with business unit and partners
  • Develop and manage relationships with advanced technology suppliers, evaluating both current and future technologies
  • Lead supplier evaluations with cross-functional teams covering product fit, technical evaluation, capacity, risk, quality, cost, and competitiveness
  • Serve as key liaison between suppliers, Mitsubishi Power teams, and EPC partners to integrate supplier products into solutions
  • Analyze data from market research, supplier performance, and stakeholder feedback to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities
  • Implement cost-out initiatives and drive toward standardization
  • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to achieve best possible outcomes
  • Identify vendors to bid highly technical commodities and evaluate bids
  • Review long range forecasts and usage cycles to create procurement strategies
  • Create value through relationship management, supplier excellence, and development projects to reduce cost and lead time
  • Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate sourcing strategies such as sole sourcing, e-sourcing events, and bundling opportunities
  • Lead performance of assigned commodities, set clear goals, monitor progress, and deliver results
  • Perform supply chain risk analysis and develop mitigation plans
  • Maintain supplier KPIs and monitor production capacity
  • Develop and refine complex commercial and technical bids and negotiate contracts
  • Establish blanket purchase agreements with suppliers
  • May lead or supervise the activities of others
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Perform other related duties as required
