About The Position

Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry. Commodity management is a strategic approach to procurement that aims to optimize the value and performance of a group of related products or services. As a commodity manager 2, you are responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering savings and benefits for our organization. This individual will identify strategic suppliers in the power generation equipment space and lead cross‑functional evaluations to determine the best overall supplier product and services fit for the Mitsubishi Power Turbine solution. This individual will recommend and work with internal groups to implement strategic supplier agreements, partnerships, or potential investments in coordination with business approval processes. Main category focus for this position will be determined by business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred) with four (4) years of supply chain experience, or eight (8) years of supply chain experience with specialty in commodities management, or an equivalent combination
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, engineering drawings, specifications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and present information to diverse audiences
Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Basic personal computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Ability to communicate job tasks, goals, and projects to global sourcing staff and manage or delegate as needed

Responsibilities

Support and implement 5 year ecosystem supplier strategy, capacity, capability aligned with BU and partners
Develop and manage relationship with power generation equipment advanced technology suppliers, evaluating both current state of the art and future technologies in early stage development
Experience in category management and strategic sourcing within the power generation industry, particularly gas and steam turbine equipment and their related systems as well as generators, HRSG’s and other power generation related equipment and/or services
Lead supplier evaluations with cross‑functional teams covering product fit and value added, service capability, technical evaluation, manufacturing capacity, risk evaluation, quality, cost competitiveness, and intellectual property position
Serve as key liaison between strategic suppliers, Mitsubishi project, engineering and service teams, and EPC partners as suppliers’ products or services are integrated into Mitsubishi Power equipment solutions
Analyze data including market research, spend analysis, supplier performance, and stakeholder feedback to identify patterns, trends, risks, and opportunities that inform sourcing decisions and commodity plans
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively to stakeholders and suppliers using visual tools and dashboards when appropriate
Implement cost‑out ideas and drive toward standardization
Negotiate contracts and agreements and manage ongoing supplier relationships while balancing organizational and supplier interests
Identify vendors to bid highly technical commodities meeting criteria of price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery dates
Review long‑range forecasts and usage cycles of strategic equipment to create procurement strategies
Create value through supplier relationship management, supplier excellence initiatives, and development projects to reduce cost and lead time
Work with other Mitsubishi group companies to identify cost savings opportunities including sole sourcing, e‑sourcing events, auctions, and cross‑commodity and cross‑business‑unit bundling
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives and drive total cost of ownership improvements
Lead and drive category performance, establish goals, monitor progress, and demonstrate accountability and integrity
Present category strategy to senior leadership
Perform risk analysis and other supply chain data analysis
Develop detailed plans to mitigate risk and meet supply chain goals
Represent Mitsubishi Power in negotiating contracts and formulating supplier policies
Maintain supplier KPIs
Monitor supplier production capacity and establish buyer capacity plans
Work with Buyers and the overall Supply Chain team to resolve conflicts
Develop, evaluate, and refine highly complex commercial and technical bids
Negotiate terms and conditions, contracts, and bid proposals in coordination with buyers and stakeholders
Write and distribute highly technical bid invitations and requests for proposal and analyze supplier responses
Establish blanket purchase agreements with vendors including dollar and time limitations
May lead or supervise the activities of others
Travel up to 25%
