About The Position

The Global Commodity Manager II is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering cost savings and value for Mitsubishi Power's power generation equipment and related services. This role identifies strategic suppliers, leads cross-functional evaluations, and establishes supplier agreements and partnerships to support the company's long-term business goals. The primary commodity focus for this position will be determined based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of supply chain experience or eight (8) years with specialization in commodities management.
  • Experience in the power generation industry, particularly with gas and steam turbines, generators, HRSGs, and related equipment or services is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, engineering drawings, material specifications, technical documents, and regulations.
  • Strong ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Skilled in presenting information to groups of managers, clients, and customers effectively.
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in environments with limited standardization.
  • Capable of interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate goals and tasks to global sourcing staff and delegate responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a 5-year ecosystem supplier strategy aligned with business unit goals.
  • Build and manage relationships with suppliers of advanced power generation technology, evaluating both current and emerging technologies.
  • Lead supplier evaluations with cross-functional teams considering product fit, service capability, technical merit, capacity, risk, quality, cost competitiveness, and IP position.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers, Mitsubishi project and engineering teams, and EPC partners to integrate supplier solutions into Mitsubishi Power offerings.
  • Analyze data such as market research, spend analysis, supplier performance, and stakeholder feedback to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Communicate sourcing strategies and findings clearly to stakeholders using reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve optimal terms and maintain ongoing supplier relationships.
  • Identify vendors and conduct highly technical bids based on criteria of price, quality, availability, and delivery.
  • Develop long-term procurement strategies based on forecasted demand and usage cycles.
  • Create value through relationship management, supplier development projects, cost reduction, and lead time improvement initiatives.
  • Lead competitive sourcing events, e-sourcing, auctions, and bundling strategies for cost optimization.
  • Present category strategies to senior leadership and drive supplier performance improvements.
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation plans to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain.
  • Represent Mitsubishi Power in supplier negotiations and policy formulation.
  • Maintain supplier KPIs and monitor production capacity to align with buyer capacity plans.
  • Support the resolution of supplier conflicts and lead detailed bid evaluations.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and finalize contracts, terms, and bid proposals in collaboration with buyers and stakeholders.
  • Establish blanket purchase agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • May lead or supervise the activities of other sourcing team members.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time as required for supplier engagement and site visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
