Join Abbott’s Global Procurement team as a Global Capital Procurement Manager: Construction Services, where you’ll play a critical role in ensuring strategic sourcing and supplier management for Construction Services for major capital projects. This position offers the chance to influence long-range planning and drive value through innovative procurement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree in Engineering related field (Civil Engineering preferred)
  • 5–7+ years of deep Category experience in Construction/Engineering project management and/or Construction-focused Capital Procurement
  • Knowledge of EPC/M, Design Build, CMAR, etc types of construction models/contracts.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Robust interpersonal skills for relationship-building and problem-solving.
  • International experience and knowledge of regional markets.
  • Experience with supplier management and implementation planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and presentation tools.
  • Good negotiating skills and organizational capabilities.
  • To meet stakeholder needs across the globe, this role requires 25+% travel (domestic and international) and occasional/frequent calls outside of traditional working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with capital planning managers across regions and divisions to anticipate long-range plans (LRP) for Greenfield and Brownfield capital projects.
  • Develop staffing plans to support capital purchasing activities utilizing resources across regions and divisions.
  • Drive supplier relationship management (SRM) initiatives for key strategic construction suppliers; including regular leadership Top to Top meetings with strategic partners.
  • Support project teams in creating sourcing plans and contract delivery methodologies.
  • Negotiate terms for major purchases and contracts within established authority.
  • Develop policies, checklists, and tools to uphold technical, quality, and reliability standards.
  • Analyze purchasing trends to identify strategic sourcing opportunities.
  • Evaluate external market factors (price trends, labor constraints, innovations) to maximize purchasing power.
  • Select and manage relationships with major suppliers and vendors to ensure service excellence.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across regions/divisions to successfully deliver capital projects.
  • Track and report Capital Procurement contributions to overall success of capital projects.
