About The Position

The Associate, Banker - Industry/Country Coverage position at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York involves structuring, analyzing, and executing transactions for companies in the natural resources sector. The role requires reviewing proprietary financial models, such as merger and acquisition (M&A), DCF, and LBO valuations, and helping evaluate these models to develop key judgments. The associate will guide and coordinate the work of junior professionals, reviewing financial modeling work and presentations prepared for transactions, corporate board meetings, investment banking pitches, and client service projects on corporate finance topics. Additionally, the associate supervises and reviews memoranda required for internal approvals from investment banking committees. The role includes analyzing accounting and regulatory statements, debt and equity filings, financial projections, and models prepared by clients. The associate will manage live deal execution in the natural resources sector, including running due diligence processes, negotiating legal documents, organizing deal roadshows, and liaising with other investment banks. Presenting to CEO/CFO level corporate clients on strategic alternatives, capital markets activities, and corporate governance issues is also a key responsibility. The associate will draft financing and offering documents and assist companies in preparing materials for potential buyers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in investment banking or a related position.
  • Experience building and reviewing financial models in Excel or related tools.
  • M&A or technical corporate finance experience including executing transactions over $100 million.
  • Experience with public mergers and acquisitions transactions over $500 million.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing securities offering documents and legal contracts.
  • Ability to execute detailed analysis of pro forma impacts of capital issuances.
  • Experience developing complex presentations and presenting to clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple live work streams and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Must obtain FINRA Series 79 within six months of hire.
