About The Position
The Helper / Apprentice Glass Installation Technician works alongside experienced technicians to assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of glass including windows, doors, mirrors, and shower enclosures. This is a hands-on, entry-level trade position ideal for someone eager to learn a skilled craft and build a long-term career in the skilled trades. No prior glass experience is required — we will train the right person.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record (required)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working at heights on ladders and scaffolding
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and take direction
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Basic math skills (measuring, fractions, area calculations)
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in construction, carpentry, or a related trade (helpful but not required)
- Familiarity with hand tools: tape measures, levels, drills, utility knives
- Experience in a customer-facing or service industry role
Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Technicians with: Measuring, cutting, and fitting glass panels to specification
- Repairing or replacing broken residential and commercial glass
- Installing mirrors, shower doors, and decorative glass products
- Applying caulk, sealants, and glazing compound
- Loading, unloading, and safely transporting glass and materials
- Prepare work areas and maintain a clean, organized job site
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines
- Assist with inventory management, supply runs, and van restocking
- Communicate professionally with customers on job sites
- Complete daily work orders, time logs, and checklists accurately
