About The Position

The Glass Studio Marketing and Communications Internship is an educational work opportunity designed for individuals seeking to expand their knowledge and experience in marketing and promotion. In addition to compensation, interns will gain invaluable hands-on experience in social media content creation and marketing; digital asset creation and graphic design; writing for publication; and website content development, organization, and implementation. Interns will also have access to the facility to pursue their personal artistic interests, as qualified.

Requirements

  • Eligible candidate must be a current degree seeking college student or recent graduate majoring in any of the following areas of study. Marketing/Communications Graphic Design/Computer Graphic Art Glass Art/Sculpture Scientific Glass Technology Fine Art/Sculpture
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the general public.
  • Candidate should possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Instagram, and Facebook are required.
  • Strong English composition skills are a must.
  • Ability to comfortably engage with and effectively photograph others.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks as well as with a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a diverse educational environment.
  • The position requires periodic moderate manual labor.
  • Much of the work involves normal office and physical duties involving standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
  • Regular exposure to potentially dangerous conditions such as those found in a facility producing scientific glass and glass art items.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a glass studio environment is desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Documentation (photo and video) of engaging activity within the Glass Education Center (GEC), including work by instructors, students, and guest artists, for marketing and promotional use.
  • Generation, organization, and strategic planning of social media content for the GEC, primarily for Instagram and Facebook.
  • Design of image assets for marketing purposes, including the creation of digital and print advertising materials.
  • Development of written content for advertising and promotional use supporting the college’s glass programs.
  • Conduct and compose student and alumni interview articles to be featured on the College’s website.
  • Assistance with the development, organization, and implementation of text and image content for the college’s website.
  • Performance of other related duties as assigned.
