About The Position

Cloudpoint Geospatial is looking for a GIS Technician to provide project support through GPS field data collection, map creation, and geospatial data editing. The ideal candidate will have experience with hands-on use of survey equipment or GPS tools for data collection. The GIS Technician must be willing to travel throughout the country with occasional weekly trips. A motivated, quick learner, who loves technology, will have ample opportunities to grow and be a part of a team.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on geography, engineering, planning, computer science, a related field.
2+ years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of college education.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications and the ability to learn new hardware and software components.
Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
Maintain a clean driving record and be capable of operating technical equipment.
The ability to travel regionally including occasional overnight stays (up to 30%). Travel will be frequent during the summer months.

Nice To Haves

2+ years of data collection experience in the field.
Experience manipulating geospatial data using Esri software.
Experience in GNSS, LiDAR, or UAS and data capture technologies.
Proficiency in Google Workspace Applications.

Responsibilities

Onsite field work involving data collection, data entry, condition assessments, and various location-based measurements.
Use LiDAR scanning equipment and GNSS equipment for data collection.
Perform GIS data maintenance, analysis, entry, and conversion; perform data research, investigation, and verification; assist with solving technical problems and determining possible solutions.
Create, maintain, and update digital maps, drawings, plans, spreadsheets, data files, and documentation for a variety of uses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
