About The Position

Leverages advanced geospatial technologies to manage and manipulate complex spatial data, enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting a range of projects. This role demands proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) software, spatial analysis and data management, as well as a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. A GIS technician at ITC focuses on keeping electric and fiber network information up to date, while participating in projects to better utilize and analyze the associated data.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, IT, Geospatial Science, GIS, or a related field or five or more years of related power utility GIS (in lieu of a associate’s degree).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in related area for Senior level.
  • Strong understanding of geodatabase design, spatial data and coordinate systems.
  • Ability to collect and enter data quickly, correctly, and efficiently.
  • Knowledge in interpreting surveys, maps, fabrication drawings and equipment details.
  • Demonstrates understanding of spatial data, algorithms, data integration and data conversion.
  • Knowledge of the Bulk Electric System and its components.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer services skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge of ESRI Utility Network schema (for electric utilities).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update electric and fiber network data using ArcGIS Pro and ArcFM Fiber Manager, ensuring accurate representation of installations and network infrastructure.
  • Perform spatial analyses and generate maps or reports to support planning, optimization, and data driven decision making across projects.
  • Maintain geospatial databases, including management of data schemas, relationships, integrity checks, and metadata.
  • Collaborate with engineers, field crews, and cross functional teams to integrate new data, validate field information, and ensure alignment between systems and real world conditions.
  • Provide GIS technical support and troubleshooting, assisting end users, resolving data or software issues, and helping teams fully leverage GIS tools and workflows.
