GIS Technician I

About the position

The GIS Technician I position at Sandy City involves assisting with professional computer map preparation, GIS database work, field data collection, and GIS analysis. Under the supervision of the GIS Coordinator, the technician will support the maintenance of the GIS system and collaborate with various city departments and the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist with professional computer map preparation and editing.
• Perform GIS database work and field data collection.
• Conduct GIS analysis and develop GIS tools.
• Support staff in maintaining the GIS system and assets.
• Collaborate with other city departments and outside agencies.

Requirements

• One year of training in GIS, cartography, databases, engineering, drafting, or a related field.
• One year of GIS, cartography, computer mapping, or engineering-related experience.
• Valid Utah Driver's License.
• Knowledge of geodatabase design concepts and GIS principles.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with asset management software.
