About The Position

Spicer Group is actively seeking a highly talented and self-motivated GIS Specialist to join our Geospatial Service Group. A qualified applicant will have a bachelors degree in GIS or related field and can demonstrate the ability to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures proficiently. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in GIS or geospatial analysis
  • Proficiency in tools like Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GPS field equipment and mobile data collection apps (e.g., Field Maps, Survey123)
  • Basic understanding of coordinate systems, spatial data formats, and projections
  • Basic knowledge of civil infrastructure data (e.g., stormwater, utilities, transportation, etc.)
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or Civil 3D
  • Basic scripting skills (Python, Arcade) or use of ModelBuilder
  • Familiarity with database concepts
  • Experience creating dashboards, web maps, or story maps for stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Collects, creates, and maintains GIS datasets for use in engineering, surveying, and planning projects
  • Produces high-quality maps, figures, and exhibits for internal use and client deliverables
  • Performs spatial analysis to support project planning, modeling, and decision-making
  • Assists with GPS data collection, post-processing, and integration into GIS
  • Supports asset management and infrastructure inventory initiatives
  • Works with engineers, surveyors, and CAD technicians to ensure accurate spatial data integration
  • Maintains metadata, adheres to, and develops company GIS standards
  • Uses ArcGIS Online to develop interactive web deliverables for clients, including Experience Builder apps, StoryMaps, and Web Maps
  • Stays current on GIS trends, tools, and industry best practices
  • Physical presence is an essential function of this job.
