About The Position

We are seeking a part-time GIS Specialist position in our New Orleans, Louisiana office for up to 25 hours per week. This position is temporary and durational and expected to last up to 3 months. An extension of the duration may be considered based on workload and performance. This part-time role will assist in GIS, GPS/GNSS, and remote sensing support for our Archaeology Division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A GIS Certificate and a Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience utilizing GIS in an archaeological setting without a degree may be considered.
  • At least one year of experience using ArcGIS Pro and related software.
  • Familiarity with GPS/GNSS data collectors.
  • Familiarity with archaeological survey and excavation techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of electronic data collection tools and GIS applications.
  • Computer literacy –competency in MS Excel and industry specific software for managing related project commitments.
  • Ability to follow direction and to work collaboratively as a team member in archaeological investigations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and work flows simultaneously, both independently and as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Create project shapefiles, field maps, and other GIS-related products to facilitate fieldwork.
  • Prepare maps and other graphics for site forms, reports, and other documents.
  • Perform Spatial Analyses.
  • Provide GPS support for field operations.
  • Other related duties, as assigned and as needed.
