Requirements

  • One year of experience working with GIS applications, Cadastral Mapping, or Title Experience
  • Associate’s degree in GIS, cartography, geography, planning, architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a closely related field
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, cartography, geography, planning, architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a closely related field
  • Experience with coordinate geometry (COGO) in GIS or CAD
  • Experience with real estate title work with major emphasis on identifying and interpreting complex recorded conveyance documents (deeds) containing complex property legal descriptions and boundaries
  • Experience with Arc Desktop, Arc Parcel Editor, or ESRI GIS Certificate in GIS

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the timely production of cadastral maps and related geospatial records that reflect the title and other property/ownership documentation by using mapping software
  • Perform complex metes and bounds property splits or combine to create new parcels in accordance with legally recorded deed-legal descriptions and plats
  • Generate and produce electronic and paper maps as needed for other divisions or stakeholders
  • Assign new parcel numbers, determine parcel descriptions of new parcels, validate correct documented ownership, and enter all data into the GIS/CAMA system
  • Research and resolve multi-parcel splits from lengthy curvilinear, non-rectangular metes and bounds property descriptions
  • Contact property owners, title companies, surveying firms, and other governmental agencies to obtain and provide accurate information related to property
  • Prioritize and organize workload to meet and exceed production requirements and accurately complete all duties in accordance with established office standards, practices, and time frames
  • Document and track daily productivity to ensure the timely process and accurate completion of individual contributions, all in an effort to meet standard productivity goals
