About The Position

As a GIS Professional at Jacobs, you will support clients in embracing the digital revolution by providing tailored data analysis solutions to their environmental challenges. This role involves leveraging GIS, database, and visualization skills to collaborate with a team on a variety of consulting projects, primarily focused on regional clients. You will play a key role in the creation, collection, processing, and analysis of geospatial data, driving collaboration and innovation across GIS projects to achieve client goals.

Requirements

  • B.S or M.S./M.A. in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or Land Use Planning.
  • 2 to 5 years' experience as a GIS professional in a work environment.
  • Experience as a GIS lead with the ability to delegate work and meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ESRI products including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Strong data management skills including creating, editing, and converting GIS data.
  • Cartographic and visual design skills for print and web products.
  • Experience creating, publishing, and managing map services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building data visualization tools and dashboards using PowerBI.
  • Basic understanding of SQL Server Management Studio and SQL code language.
  • Experience using FME for automated data or reporting workflows.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Javascript, or R.
  • Familiarity with Sheetcutter by New Century Software.
  • Exposure to project management competencies like defining scope and setting timelines.
  • Experience writing code in Python and/or SQL for data processing.
  • Experience writing expressions in ArcGIS Arcade for ArcGIS products and APIs.
  • Exposure to web-based GIS technologies and software development.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage GIS technology to support clients in environmental challenges.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver complex technical projects.
  • Create, collect, process, and analyze geospatial data under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in GIS data conversion/editing and map production tasks.
  • Support project teams with database design and mobile data collection.
  • Document workflows and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance GIS knowledge and skills.
