Under the supervision of the County's Operations Division Head, the individual will coordinate all Enterprise Level Geographic Information System (GIS) and Planning and Zoning activities in the County. The Director will oversee all aspects of the GIS/Mapping Department including the management of the Department's annual budget and staff. The Director will administer, review and improve the daily operations of the County's Enterprise GIS. The Director will work closely with County management to integrate GIS technologies to improve workflow or public service efficiencies and/or effectiveness. Provide complex research/data analysis, programming, and general management of the County's Enterprise GIS and other related databases. The Director will also perform the work of planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing overall operations related to Planning and Zoning for Luzerne County to ensure the department's goals and objectives are achieved. The Director must also be familiar with the requirements of Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) management and have transportation planning expertise. The position is required to participate in and help lead the functions of the MPO.
