About The Position

The Connexus Energy GIS internship provides practical, real-world experience working with electric system mapping and data. The intern will support GIS staff with system updates, mapping requests, and data accuracy while gaining exposure to tools used by field crews and operations teams. Anticipated hiring range is between $17.00 - $20.00 per hour. The final compensation offered is based on the selected candidates qualifications, experience and skill level. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrolled and pursuing a 2 - 4 year degree in GIS\Geography, engineering, surveying, or related field
  • A valid Minnesota Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro 3.1+ software
  • PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, SQL Server Management Studio, Power BI, Teams)

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily work by reviewing and processing designed projects from the backlog queue for entry into the Enterprise GIS database.
  • Resolve conflict errors in GIS data and work with crews, design, or operations to resolve errors.
  • Model system changes and related data accurately so the Enterprise GIS can support real-time distribution system operations.
  • Obtain information from other enterprise systems to validate correctness of mapping data and to solve discrepancies.
  • Provide special mapping products as needed to internal users and/or external organizations such as government agencies and other utilities.
  • Submit requirements to GIS Analyst as needed to develop proper views, filtering, levels, and/or stored displays in GIS to display the required necessary data.
