Department: Parks Recreation and Natural Resources About Our Job Join the Parks Internal Operations team in the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources department this summer! This position will focus on the integration of geospatial technologies within existing County business processes and workflows, updating geospatial data layers, adding attribute and routine maintenance data within GIS databases, and working with various Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ divisions to compile necessary information to maintain assets and their lifecycles. The responsibilities include many aspects of Geographic Information Systems, including data creation, development, maintenance, and map production. Department Responsibilities: Analyze data and prepare GIS maps for land-use management and planning efforts. Work in a park maintenance environment crafting, editing data, and configuring geo-databases, planning and coordinating the implementation of new solutions Coordinate activities that will involve the ability to multi-task and communicate efficiently between multiple teams regarding master planning tasks. Provide master planning and analysis summaries in the form of technical reports, maps, and research on assigned projects. Collaborate with your department colleagues to make and influence real changes. Internship Program Responsibilities: A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program on Friday, August 7, 2026. Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.

Requirements

  • Ages 16-17 with parental consent, or 18 and above.
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Active, enrolled student.

Nice To Haves

  • Majoring in geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or a related field.
