About The Position

TECKpert’s client, a government agency in Florida, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled GIS Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage critical database systems in GIS, for the agency's Office of Information Technology (OIT) Application Services. This advanced-level role requires a professional with deep technical expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Database Administration or a related IT field.
Demonstrated experience as an Advanced or Senior Database Administrator.
Proven experience supporting databases utilizing spatial extensions (e.g., PostGIS) or features (e.g., Oracle Spatial).
Expert-level knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and administration tools.
Proven experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., clustering, replication).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work flexible hours, including on-call support.

Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise database systems (specifically PostgreSQL and Oracle) to ensure high performance, security, and availability.
Design, implement, and manage database security policies, disaster recovery (DR) plans, and backup strategies.
Perform complex performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting of database instances and queries, including those that handle spatial data sets.
Manage database patches, upgrades, migrations, and installations across development, test, and production environments.
Provide advanced technical support and resolution for database-related incidents and problems.
Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams on database design and implementation projects.
