About The Position

The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology RN is responsible for identifying patient needs and priorities for care through assessment and planning based on patient needs, and consistent with the patient's expectation of treatment. The RN executes therapeutic physician or nursing-initiated interventions and evaluates the patient's response to care and the attainment progress toward patient outcomes. The role involves assisting in all procedures performed in the Invasive Cardiology and Interventional Radiology Labs, coordinating care between other professional disciplines, and performing unit-based activities that contribute to a positive work and professional environment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Critical Care or Medical/Surgical nurse or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing applications.
  • Knowledge of radiology procedures, equipment and safety protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in hemodynamic monitoring skills and ECG interpretative skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with other care providers to complete the initial and ongoing assessments of patients.
  • Performs therapeutic interventions as ordered by the physician.
  • Assembles, operates and troubleshoots equipment needed for various procedures.
  • Assists in performance of procedures under instruction of the physician.
  • Administers medication according to policy and procedure.
  • Documents care based on standards of care and practice.
  • Initiates communication with peers and other members of the health care team.
  • Initiates problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Provides information to patients and families to reduce anxiety.
  • Delegates work to other staff members as needed.
  • Determines the impact of Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology lab interventions on the patient's condition.
  • Places intravenous catheters, midlines and peripherally inserted central catheters as assigned.
  • Provides direct care to patients as assigned.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars and workshops.
  • Participates in meetings, committees and department projects.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
