About The Position

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School is seeking two Assistant Coaches for the Girls Spring Track team for the 2025-2026 school year. The positions are part of the Athletics & Activities department and are essential for supporting the head coach in training and developing student-athletes in track and field events. The assistant coaches will work closely with the head coach to implement training programs, assist in organizing practices, and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

Requirements

• NJ Instructional Certification is required.
• Candidates eligible for a County Substitute Certificate will be considered if a certified applicant is not available.
• Experience as an Assistant Track Coach is preferred.
• Completion of Principles of Coaching Course is preferred but must be willing to obtain.
• Current CPR/AED Certificate is preferred but must be willing to obtain.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in coaching track and field at the high school level.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting track practices.
• Support the development of student-athletes in their respective events.
• Help organize and supervise track meets and competitions.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and events.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration.
