About The Position

The Head Coach assumes primary responsibility for the leadership, management, organization, and development of the team. The Head Coach also supervises a staff of assistant coaches. The Head Coach works with the Principal and Athletic Director to implement a program that aligns with the PS7 Middle School vision and expectations for student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Desire to teach/work at St. HOPE Public Schools preferred.
  • Successful coaching experience.
  • Ability to supervise personnel through previous leadership experience.
  • Must be able to obtain CIF Certifications - General Coaching Education course, a Concussion course, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) training, Heat Acclimatization course.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure varsity student-athletes adhere to the athletic department’s vision and expectation.
  • Report complete player roster before first official practice to Principal and AD.
  • Complete all CIF coaching certification (Fundamental of Coaching, Concussions, Sudden Cardiac Arrest).
  • Pass out jerseys at the beginning of the season and collect at the end of season.
  • Request facility use time.
  • Hold season parent meeting and athlete meeting prior to the start of the season.
  • Report practice schedule to Principal and AD.
  • Manage facilities and equipment upkeep.
  • Request any equipment or jersey needs at the end of season.
  • Ensure that all equipment is signed out and returned at the end of the season by players.
  • Attend all coaches meetings.
  • Hold an end of the season team banquet.
  • Report scores to maxpreps, Principal and AD.
  • Attend all league mandated meetings.
  • Attend team picture day.
  • Attend any coaches PD provided by athletic department.
  • Maintain professional attire during game days.
  • Regular communication with Principal and AD regarding game day operations, injuries, discipline concerns, parent/player concerns.
  • Attend sports banquets.
  • Attend end of meeting with Principal and AD.
  • Ensure compliance with all CIF and school site Regulations.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Director to coordinate transportation.
  • Identify and coordinate tournaments.
  • Coordinate award ceremonies and presentations.
  • Create and maintain a realistic budget.
  • Serve as liaison between the school and athletic league and represent the school at required meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and AD to develop a master schedule for team events.
  • Disseminate pertinent materials to student-athletes and ensure that coaches in the program comply with CIF rules and procedures.
