About The Position

The Girls Assistant Tennis Coach is responsible for organizing and supervising a comprehensive sports program at South Middle School. The coach will instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The role also emphasizes the importance of character development, self-discipline, and self-confidence among student athletes. The coach is expected to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills through coaching clinics and observations.

Requirements

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of tennis.
• Ability to examine new theories and procedures in coaching.

• Experience in coaching at both high school and middle school levels.
• Participation in coaching clinics and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise the total sports program.
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
• Serve as a role model for student athletes.
• Implement athletic policies approved by the Plainwell Community Schools' Board of Education.
• Ensure knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations.
• Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
• Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth.
• Delegate specific duties and supervise implementation.
• Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation.
• Assist the athletic director in scheduling and transportation for events.
• Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices.
• Provide documentation for state and system requirements.
• Advise the athletic director on policy and procedural changes.
