About The Position

GIFTED RESOURCE TEACHER School Year 2026-2027 Assignments and Locations to be determined Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for gifted resource teaching positions that may become available within our division for the 2026 – 2027 school year. Please note this is a "continuous recruit posting" to build an applicant pool for all schools. As positions become available, all qualified applicants with complete application files will be considered. Should a specific location/job be posted, you may also be required to apply to that posting. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Gifted Resource teacher serves students throughout the division and coordinates the identification and placement of gifted students; provides support for the classroom teacher in development and delivery of differentiated curriculum; and works directly with gifted students. The Gifted Resource teacher uses a collaborative model in working with the principals and teachers to provide services to the students and is a member of a cadre of teachers who conduct staff development sessions on gifted identification, curriculum, and instruction at the school and division levels.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with an endorsement in elementary or secondary education
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience working with gifted and high-ability students
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials
  • Possess ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement appropriate instruction
  • Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
  • Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
  • Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
  • Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
  • Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities

Responsibilities
