About The Position

The Gift Shop Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to hotel guests and visitors while maintaining the daily operations of the hotel’s gift shop. This role involves assisting customers, handling transactions, restocking merchandise, and ensuring the shop is clean, organized, and visually appealing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
  • Must have knowledge of current industry trends and be comfortable experimenting with new promotional ideas
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple guests and operational demands with a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have the ability to make change.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years.
  • All employees must adhere to all safety rules and regulations required by local, State and Federal authorities, wear the appropriate personal protective equipment necessary to perform the job in a safe manner and will follow all safety rules per the Company’s Safety Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner and assist with product inquiries and recommendations
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately
  • Maintain knowledge of all merchandise, including local souvenirs, snacks, apparel, and specialty items
  • Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure merchandise is attractively presented
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock items to management
  • Keep the shop clean, tidy, and well-organized at all times
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate cash drawer balances
  • Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries
  • Promote hotel amenities, services, and local attractions when interacting with guests
  • Follow hotel policies and procedures, including safety and loss prevention guidelines
