The R.G. White Large Animal Research Station (LARS) has a broad mission to support research, education, and outreach on Alaskan animals. We support the interests and activities of UAF researchers and also serve scientists from other institutions and organizations in the United States and from around the world. Our animals are maintained for a wide variety of research and educational projects including reproduction, nutrition, energetics, and behavior. To thrive in this position, you should enjoy working with people, and have enthusiasm for Alaskan megafauna and science, and enjoy conveying information about these things to groups of people in a polite, informative, and enthusiastic manner. You can expect to work in all weather–sun, snow, ice, rain, extreme temperatures, mosquitoes and occasionally smoke. Our gift shop is an open air building. You should also be comfortable in a small retail space.
