The Gift Processing team processes a large volume of gifts aiding EDF’s $300M+ annual fundraising effort in support of its critical mission work. The team provides support to multiple departments, assists in business process development and documentation, and provides reporting and analysis on revenue-related data. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Gift Processing, and working closely with other Global Development colleagues as well as, Finance and IT staff, the Gift Processing Associate will be required to process gifts from multiple revenue streams, participate in data-related projects and assist with database maintenance for a donor database containing approximately three million records. We are seeking an individual who has a strong work ethic, is flexible and a team player. The successful candidate should have fundraising software, query reporting and database systems management experience.

  • Collect daily donations received by EDF and evaluate, sort and total all donations to create daily gift batches.
  • Execute daily gift processing - receiving, verifying, identifying donors, depositing, keying, and batching of all types of gifts. These include cash, checks, credit cards, wires, outright gifts, recurring, matching gifts, stock gifts, among others.
  • Review and update demographic information in Salesforce.
  • Scan supporting documentation and attach to gift records.
  • Oversee matching gift websites/portals and key gifts in Salesforce.
  • Review and process mass importing of multi-donor gifts from third-party portals/platforms such as Benevity, Network for Good, Facebook, PayPal, Donor Advised Funds, etc.
  • Adjust entries as requested by the Membership team.
  • Produce and/or run various reports pertaining to the gift entry process for the purpose of gift entry validation.
  • Assist with administrative duties as requested (create monthly logs and folders, notify team of daily gift intake, etc).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all donor, gift, and financial information ensuring sensitive data is handled with discretion.
  • Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; at least 2 years of administrative experience in a fast-paced, detailed-oriented environment (a bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience).
  • Familiarity with relational databases.
  • Ability to learn complex data entry codes and procedures quickly.
  • Intermediate proficiency with excel (Formulas, VLOOKUP).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit revenue accounting a plus.
  • Previous experience working with donor databases; Salesforce experience a plus.
