About The Position

The Endoscopy RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures in the GI lab. This role includes pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure assistance, and post-procedure recovery care while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with clinical standards. The endoscopy nurse is responsible for the following: Admit and assess patients for endoscopic procedures; verify EMR (Epic) completeness Perform pre-procedure assessments including vital signs and medical history review Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care, including recovery and discharge Assist physicians during GI procedures such as colonoscopy and EGD Monitor patient status throughout procedures, including vital signs, airway, and sedation Administer medications, IV infusions, and injections per physician orders and protocols Educate patients on procedure preparation, recovery expectations, and follow-up care Document patient care, procedures, and outcomes accurately in EMR system. Prepare, clean, disinfect, and store endoscopes and equipment, including Medivator operation and quality checks Maintain aseptic technique and a safe, organized procedure room environment Assemble and maintain supplies and equipment Anticipate physician preferences and procedural supply needs Handle surgical specimens and complete required documentation Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated patient care Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards Previous experience in endoscopy, GI lab, PACU or perioperative setting preferred. BLS and ACLS required. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills. Ability to monitor and manage sedate patients Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license in the State of Indiana.
  • Must possess current BLS and ACLS.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safe and effective operation of a variety of specialized equipment specific to the perioperative area.
  • Must be able to read and interpret orders.
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in endoscopy, GI lab, PACU or perioperative setting preferred.
