GHOST TOWN ALIVE! (Immersive Theater Actors)
About The Position
Dust off your boots! Knott’s Berry Farm is seeking performers to bring the town of Calico to life in GHOST TOWN ALIVE!, our award-winning immersive theater experience set in the streets of historic Ghost Town. We’re looking for engaging storytellers and character performers who enjoy connecting with guests and helping create a living, breathing town full of memorable encounters and adventure. Performers will interact with visitors throughout the day while contributing to the ongoing stories of Calico’s residents. The town of Calico is home to a wide range of characters from young dreamers to seasoned townsfolk. We welcome a diverse spectrum of gender identities, ethnic and cultural backgrounds who can bring those stories to life to audition. Bi-lingual performers are strongly encouraged to attend. Please bring a current photo and resume. Candidates who attend the audition should come ready to move, collaborate with others, and participate in a variety of guided group activities and character exercises. (No costumes or props, please.) Those who would like to be considered must attend an in-person audition. Please plan to be at the audition for approximately two hours. Video audition submissions will not be accepted. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in May and may include evening and overnight rehearsal calls. GHOST TOWN ALIVE! is currently scheduled to open June 12th and run on select dates through August 30th. All dates are subject to change. This role is compensated at $20.65 per hour.
Requirements
- Availability to work all assigned rehearsal and event dates that include weekday/weekends nights and holidays
- Interest or experience in interactive, improvisational or immersive theater
- Ability to commit to multiple days of work per week and adhere to minimum availability requirements
- Ability to perform in outdoor venues in varying Southern California weather conditions, temperatures, and direct sunlight
- Willingness and ability to wear heavy make‑up, wigs and costuming for extended periods of time
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, and DMV
- Ability to provide record of previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
Responsibilities
- Using your talents to enrich Knott’s Berry Farm’s atmosphere for guests
- Working as a member of a team to achieve overall atmosphere and goals set by Entertainment leadership and show directors
- Consistently performing your role as scripted and/or conceived
- Remaining in character while "onstage” and in view of guests and interacting with guests while performing in a professional and artistic manner
- Providing guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions, and giving accurate directions
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety in assigned work area, performing all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements, and reporting all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision
- Meeting scheduling availability requirements that include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Fulfilling attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies
- Adhering to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures
- Performing other duties as they are assigned
