About The Position

The GFP Patient Support Center Associate is an entry-level position responsible for providing excellent customer service in a medical office environment. The role involves answering phone calls, updating patient information, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance details. The associate plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers, while also participating in outreach campaigns to promote preventative care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a medical office environment.
  • Experience working with electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance requirements.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a medical office or medical administration program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and professionally answer telephone calls.
  • Update patient demographic information and enter it into electronic records.
  • Create new patient records as needed.
  • Conduct insurance information verification and eligibility checks.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established office protocols and triage guidelines.
  • Communicate with physician office staff on patient concerns, requests, and scheduling changes.
  • Refer patients as needed to Griffin Faculty Physician and Griffin Hospital resources.
  • Identify potential gaps in care, including the need for annual preventative visits, and schedule as needed.
  • Participate in population health outreach campaigns and help to schedule as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
