About The Position
The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) at Amergis plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position involves a variety of individualized patient care activities tailored to meet the needs of the geriatric patient population. The GNA is responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, which includes bathing, dressing, feeding, and transporting patients. Additionally, the GNA performs non-professional services that are essential for ensuring the comfort and personal needs of the patients are met. In this role, maintaining patient confidentiality is paramount, and the GNA must adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice. The GNA will assist residents with their daily activities, perform transfers and lifts according to facility protocols, and ensure timely and thorough documentation in the facility's electronic medical record (EMR) system. Providing support and companionship to patients is also a key responsibility, as is assisting residents with the use of assistive devices. The GNA must observe appropriate infection control procedures and notify the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings or conditions. Other responsibilities include cleaning and organizing patient rooms, assisting with the management of residents' laundry and belongings, and preparing patients for appointments or transfers. The GNA will also assist nurses with admissions and discharges to the unit, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
