We are seeking candidates interested in a summer internship in our Geotech department in Lynchburg. You will focus mainly on performing routine construction materials testing services (soils, concrete, and masonry) in the laboratory or on construction sites. Possibly gaining some experience working around our drill rig, you may also transport equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provide physical assistance in equipment set-up. Interested candidates must be willing to work a minimum of 35 hours per week between June and mid-August 2026. Dates of the actual internship may vary depending upon class schedules and other commitments. This is a paid internship, but we do not provide housing allowances, so the selected candidate will need to be in Lynchburg for the summer months. We strive to provide meaningful experience for selected candidates: the selected individual will work on active projects and gain hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will be a rising senior or junior who is working toward a degree in engineering or geology. Interested individuals should submit a resume and statement of interest here. We value diversity and are committed to hiring the best applicants for our engineering practice, and therefore we encourage minorities, women, and other underserved groups to apply. Hurt & Proffitt is 100% employee-owned, allowing us to focus on our customers and staff rather than shareholders. We are committed to our clients and committed to performing meaningful work that impacts our communities. If you feel you meet these requirements, please submit your cover letter, completed application, and resume here.
