As a technician at ECS, you will be involved in the layout of borings and test pits using both conventional surveying and GPS. Your responsibilities will include observing and classifying test pits and soils, performing hand auger borings, conducting DCP testing, and logging soil data. In the office, you will classify samples obtained from drilling operations and reduce GPS and other geotechnical data for production. You may also have administrative duties and work in the construction materials testing department. Your role will primarily involve field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of various materials on active construction sites, including soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement. Under the guidance of project managers, you will perform routine tests and assist in more complex tasks, with daily communication required with site contractors and other technicians. ECS will provide training in their methodology for observations, inspections, and testing, while encouraging skill development through certification programs.
