Cochran’s Union, Missouri headquarters’ location, is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Technician to join our team.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, construction science, geology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 1–3 years of experience in soil testing, inspection, or construction materials testing preferred
  • Knowledge of soil mechanics, compaction testing, and site evaluation methods
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and documentation
  • Strong observational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in outdoor field conditions and lift equipment/materials (up to 50 lbs)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local project sites

Responsibilities

  • Perform field investigations, including soil sampling, classification, and logging
  • Conduct soil testing and inspection for site development, construction, and foundation projects
  • Assist in preparing field reports, technical documentation, and recommendations for project teams
  • Support geotechnical engineers with data collection, analysis, and documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, site supervisors, and engineering staff to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Maintain testing equipment and follow proper calibration and safety procedures
  • Participate in quality control/assurance activities related to soils and construction materials
