Provide geotechnical engineering and guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Tasks may include assisting with the research, design, analysis, concept development, planning, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment. Perform basic professional geotechnical engineering work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects. Perform and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Verify the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on various design, and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, and investigating subsurface and geological conditions to design and build foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub-grades. Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software. Develop work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and laboratory testing. Provide support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications.
