About The Position

Causeway Geotech Limited is a geoscience and ground-investigation contract company that operates under the Woocheen group. Causeway is committed to supporting Sealaska’s ocean-health focus and helps support a wide variety of projects including offshore windfarms, water treatment, coastal planning, and more. As the Geotechnical Engineer Fellow, there will be opportunities for mentorship from experienced engineers and geologists. You will visit ground investigation projects of varying scale across Ireland, gaining hands-on experience both in the field and in the office. This role offers a blend of site-based and office-based learning, comprehensive training, and the chance to participate in some of the largest infrastructure ground investigation contracts on the island of Ireland. Please note, 2 fellows will be hired for this role.

Requirements

  • Able to both collaborate with a team and perform duties independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
  • Commit to 7-week program timeline (1 week in Alaska, 6 weeks in Ireland)
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 20 years old at time of hire
  • Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)

  • Previously completed at least one year of the Sealaska Internship Program

Responsibilities

  • Engage with a strong team of Geotechnical Engineers/Engineering Geologists in an office and/or site-based environment as Ground Investigation data and reports are produced
  • Opportunity to observe large infrastructure ground investigation contracts
  • Observe and participate in the preparation of Factual Ground Investigation Reports
  • Learn about contract management
  • Learn about health and safety standards
  • Learn about quality control in accordance with the relevant industry standards
  • Learn about budget management
  • Learn about technical reporting writing
