About The Position

With high-level goals provided, creates excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, bridge/roadway, dams/reservoirs/levees projects, etc. engineering designs of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements. The role involves reviewing draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signing off on completed designs. It also requires ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs, performing site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with local practice and AASHTO/DOT design standards, and updating design requirements as necessary. Additionally, the position includes performing soil sampling analyses and modeling, contributing to the firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, and submitting technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Collaboration with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs) is also a key responsibility. The role requires reviewing draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices, meeting with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs, and attending conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services. The position also involves providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff, mentoring them for future growth within the discipline and firm, and may include supervising the work of junior engineers on project work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required, contingent on duties and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
