Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Experience with MS Office, GIS, and CADD, as appropriate
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical engineering focus
  • Experience with ArcGIS and/or Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Experience with local geology (California).
  • The candidate should be capable of working independently and efficiently under the general supervision of senior-level Geotechnical Engineers.
  • Ability to travel for moderate durations outside of the Northern California region.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with the following software: gINT, GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), Ensoft pile software (LPILE, APILE, SHAFT, GROUP), Settle3, CLiq, CPeT-IT.

Responsibilities

  • Develop geotechnical engineering calculations and perform analyses in support of designs, plans, and specifications, for flood walls, levees, dam embankments, bank protection, hydraulic structures, bridges, and pumping station projects.
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of technical documents such as technical memoranda and geotechnical reports.
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct slope stability, seepage, settlement, and other soil/rock analyses associated with geotechnical engineering studies.
  • Have familiarity with geotechnical earthquake engineering concepts such as seismic hazard, seismic site response, and liquefaction.
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
  • Perform field work consisting of construction observations, field investigations, and site reconnaissance.
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel, as needed.
  • Perform field investigations including logging soil and rock borings, instrumentation installation, Cone Penetration Test observations, packer testing, geophysical survey, and televiewer data collection.
  • Perform other duties as needed
