Wiser is seeking a Geospatial Apprentice to join our team in a remote capacity. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a basic understanding of geographic information systems (GIS). As a Geospatial Apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training on the necessary software, GIS principles, and source materials required to perform your duties effectively. The role involves working collaboratively with a team to collect, maintain, analyze, and interpret geographic information tailored to meet the needs of our clients. In this position, you will engage in various tasks, including digital feature extraction from multiple data sources and accurately attributing digital data. You will be expected to understand and follow project-specific guidance while independently utilizing technical resources and guidance documents. Additionally, you will be responsible for cleaning geographic data errors and omissions and applying cartographic editing techniques, such as feature displacement, thinning, symbolization, and annotation. You will also have the opportunity to suggest and implement improved work methods to enhance efficiency and accuracy in our processes. This role is designed for U.S. citizens who possess a basic familiarity with ArcGIS or other GIS software. You will need a suitable workspace for remote work, equipped with high-speed internet and multiple monitors, as a laptop will be provided by the company. The ability to self-lead using customer guidance, meet production deadlines with minimal errors, and communicate effectively with a diverse team are essential skills for success in this position.
