About The Position

At 1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, we help clients unlock the power of geospatial data to solve complex challenges and drive smarter decisions. Our Geospatial Solutions team partners with utilities, government organizations, and manufacturing clients to deliver innovative mapping, analysis, and system integration services that support operational excellence and business growth. We are seeking a Geospatial Analyst to join our collaborative team. In this role, you'll assist with Geospatial consulting projects, system architecture design, application development, and data migration efforts. You'll work closely with internal and external teams to deliver high-quality solutions, support business development, and help shape the future of geospatial technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or closely related natural science field. Required
  • 1 year related professional experience. Required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Basic software and computer skills required including, ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with GIS consulting engagements, supporting both internal and external project teams.
  • Help develop technical specifications, project approaches, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control of deliverables to meet client and project requirements.
  • Support GIS system needs assessments, requirements gathering, and implementation of improved business processes.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors.
  • Leverage domain knowledge while working with cross-divisional teams; take initiative to resolve issues.
  • Assist with sales pursuits, proposal development, and technical demonstrations.
  • Utilize software tools (ArcGIS, MS Access, MS Excel, CAD) and various data sources to create GIS maps and support field operations.
  • Assist with digital feature extraction, projections, and transformations for project deliverables.
  • Create and update GIS maps and layers using ArcGIS in support of field surveys.
  • Support GPS data collection and post-processing activities.
  • Conduct GIS metadata creation, data research, and georeferencing of raster and vector data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company and site safety policies.
